The purpose of these lessons: (1) to celebrate Jesus’ new kind of kingship that surprises and challenges human expectations,(2) To heed Jesus’ warning about how our lives and material resources can be misused in ways that distort God’s mission,(3) To confess our complicity in rejecting God’s true priest and king, (4) to walk in the hope of Jesus’ resurrection on the third day, and (5)to affirm that the church’s proclamation of God’s salvation story is rooted in Hebrew scriptures.
